Welcome to my online store

My handmade leather watch straps are made in parallel widths and are generally between 3mm – 5mm thick. Every aspect of the manufacture of a Toshi Strap is undertaken by hand using traditional techniques – the result is a watch strap that I fully expect will give you good service for many years to come.

Every strap is hand stitched using a 4-ply waxed linen thread, and there are 20 colours of thread available to choose from when you order a strap.

Although I am first and foremost a strap maker I carry a number of items associated with watch straps in stock, so if you have come here looking for a buckle or a spring bar tool I can help too. Click on one of the categories below to see what’s available, and if you see something you like you can click on it for more detailed information. You can also check out my gallery for some inspiration.

I aim to have your strap built and shipped within 5 weeks of receiving your order and payment. This lead time will vary depending on how busy I am when you place your order, but I will always give you a firm dispatch date when I confirm your order.

  • Chartreuse is a another leather that I've been able to source that was produced for Parisian fashion house, Hermès. It is what Hermès refer to as an "Epsom" leather, one of the leathers most commonly used in the manufacture of Kelly and Birkin Sellier-style bags. It makes a fine watch strap, too! This is a leather that is certainly not readily available (and I almost certainly won’t be able to get any more once it’s gone) so I’m listing it as a “limited edition”. As a result, each Chartreuse strap will come with a signed letter from me stating the date your strap was made and giving it a production number. The strap shown is made with butterscotch stitching, but natural & emerald green (for a low contrsat stitch) work beautifully with this leather too. You can see the options for thread colour see the stitching colours page. Straps produced with Chartreuse leather will be approx 3mm thick and are priced as follows: £120 with a free spring bar buckle £125 with a sewn in buckle £130 with a screw bar buckle

  • Parisian Blue is a calf leather produced for French fashion house Hermès. It is what they refer to as a "Monsieur Grainee" leather, and has a lovely semi-matt finish with a tight grain. I've been lucky enough to acquire a small amount of this famous leather in a lovely mid blue colour. I leave the edges natural with this one as I've found it looks so much better with un-finished edges. This is a leather that is certainly not readily available (and I probably won’t be able to get any more once it’s gone) so I’m listing it as a “limited edition”. As a result, each Parisian Blue strap will come with a signed letter from me stating the date your strap was made and giving it a production number. The strap shown is made with butterscotch stitching, but pale blue and natural threads work well with this leather too. • Emperor Kudu

    From £130.00
Emperor Kudu is a darker version of King Kudu, a leather I introduced a couple of years ago and has almost sold out now. It is a kudu leather with the same tannage as King Kudu - fully veg tanned with a full aniline finish, which allows the character of the leather to shine through. It has a deep brown tone and is super strong and pliable – perfect for a watch strap. I’ve been using kudu leather for my watch straps for many years now because of it’s characteristics, and this tannage is one of the best I’ve found. Highly recommended! Kudu are antelope that live in dense brush or forest in the African Savanna, one of the harshest environments on earth, and are prey to preditors such as leopards and hyenas. The kudu skins used to produce this leather exibit some scars and marks from the animals hard life. As a result no two kudu leather straps will look the same, ensuring your strap will be unique. As is the case with all the kudu leather I use, the skins are the result of the seasonal kudu cull mandated by the South African government. The strap photographed for this page was stitched with butterscotch thread, but natural, grey, light brown and bright yellow threads work very well too. To see the options for thread colour see the stitching colours page. Straps produced with Emperor Kudu leather will be approx 4mm thick and are priced as follows: £130 with a free spring bar buckle £135 with a sewn in buckle £140 with a screw bar buckle

  • Pastel is a leather produced for French fashion house Hermès. It is what they refer to as a "Clemence" leather (named after the daughter of the designer who introduced it into Hermès’ collections in 1992) and is produced from the hide of a baby bull (calf). Hermès Clemence leather is known for its durability, large grain, and soft, heavy, and supple texture. I've been lucky enough to acquire a small amount of this famous leather in a fabulous soft pink colour. It's a thick leather, but very soft and pliable. I leave the edges natural with this one as I've found it looks so much better this way. This is a leather that is not readily available (and I probably won’t be able to get any more once it’s gone) so I’m listing it as a “limited edition”. As a result, each Pastel strap will come with a signed letter from me stating the date your strap was made and giving it a production number. The strap shown is made with natural stitching. The only other thread colour I would personally consider is white, but to see the options for thread colour see the stitching colours page. • Indigo

    From £120.00
Indigo is a premium leather crafted by a small, traditional tannery in Tuscany—an area renowned for its exceptional vachetta leathers. This leather is tumbled to create a classic pebbled texture and stands out for its rich character and craftsmanship. Soft and pliable from the start, Indigo still retains a satisfying weight and durability that makes it perfect for watch straps. It’s one of the finest vachetta leathers I’ve come across—elegant, hard-wearing, and built to age beautifully. When I saw this leather I liked it so much that I bought it in two colours. If you’re after something bold and striking, be sure to check out Scarlet—a stunning, bright red companion to Indigo. The strap shown in the photographs on this page is stitched with butterscotch thread, but pale blue, grey and natural threads work very well too. • Midnight Kudu

    From £130.00
I've been using kudu leathers for some years now, as it makes such a fantastic watch strap. On my recent visit I was delighted to find the tannery has produced something stunning in a short run. This batch of leather has been dyed a very dark inky blue colour, but the character of the kudu leather is allowed to shine through. If you are looking for a blue watch strap, but prefer something a little different, Midnight Blue could well be the one for you. As is always the case with kudu leathers, Midnight Blue is a very soft, pliable, full grain leather that makes an amazing watch strap. Kudu live in dense brush or forest in the African Savanna, one of the harshest environments on earth, and are prey to preditors such as leopards and hyenas. The kudu skins used to produce this leather exibit all the scars and marks of the animals hard life, and as a result no two kudu leather straps will look the same, ensuring your strap will be unique. As is the case with all the kudu leather I use, the skins are the result of the seasonal kudu cull mandated by the South African government. The strap photographed for this page was stitched with pale blue thread, but natural, grey, royal blue and denim threads work very well too. • Russian Tan

    From £130.00
Once in a while I come across a leather that is truly special, and Russian Tan is certainly that. A truly artisan leather, produced by a very small tannery utilising deer skins and using a traditional vegetable tanning process. The hides come from controlled deer culls, and the tanneries receive the wet salted raw hides directly from the wildlife stewards who are responsible for maintaining the deer populations. Once tanned, the leather is embossed with the famous Russian hatch pattern, which has become synonomous with the world's best leathers. This is a soft & pliable leather that certainly lives up to that billing, in my opinion. You can see all the options for thread colour on the stitching colours page, but Russian Tan is a classic leather and one that I believe should always be stitched with natural thread (as photographed). Trust me on this, and I am confident you'll love it. Straps produced with Russian Tan leather will be approx 3.5mm thick and are priced as follows: £130 with a free spring bar buckle £135 with a sewn in buckle £140 with a screw bar buckle

  • Vintage Black

    From £130.00
Vintage Black is something a bit special and highly recommended. Made from young ox hides, the British tannery that produces Vintage Black uses a pit tanning process that takes 14 months to produce the finished leather. Three types of tree bark are used in the process, before the leather is dressed with dubbin and birch oil. This attention to detail results in a truly unique and luxurious black leather that wears well and smells wonderful. The strap photographed for this page was stitched with black thread which I personally prefer, but Vintage Black can be dressed with any of the stitching colours I have avalable to accent details on your watch. Straps produced with Vintage Black leather will be approx 5mm thick and are priced as follows: £130 with a free spring bar buckle £135 with a sewn in buckle £140 with a screw bar buckle

I love this leather, and for me it looks best with either natural (as shown in the photos on this page) or white stitching. Cherry Bomb is one of the thinner leathers that I use (a Cherry Bomb strap will come out at just 2mm thick), but don't be fooled, it is a very strong leather and will hold up to serious wear. It's a high shine cherry colour with a crackled glaze. The strap photographed for this page was stitched with natural thread. To see the options for thread colour see the stitching colours page. Marlin is a veg tanned patent leather I came across recently on my travels. I loved the colour of this hide, and although it doesn't have the high gloss finish normally associated with patent leather, it does have a shine to it. It's a strong and hard wearing leather that works beautifully with a large watch. I leave the edges natural with this one as it look so much better for it. I hope you like it. • I recently went to visit a leather wholesaler who supplies the French fashion house Hermès with leather for their leathergoods. I managed to convince him to sell me a small amount of "Ultraviolet", a strong, deep purple leather usually made into Birkin / Kelly handbags - and now available for me to make your Toshi Strap with. This is a leather that is certainly not readily available (and I probably won't be able to get any more once it's gone) so I'm listing it as a "limited edition". As a result, each Ultraviolet strap will come with a signed letter from me stating the date your strap was made and giving it a production number. The strap photographed for this page was stitched with lavender thread for a low contrast look. This is my favourite thread colour for this leather, but natural and grey thread look great with it too. To see the options for thread colour see the stitching colours page. • Redwood

    From £100.00
Redwood is what is known as a "crazy horse" leather. It's a heavyweight, full grain leather that is treated with oils after tanning to produce a product that is hardwearing yet supple, and which will develop a fabulous patina as it ages. Redwood is a lovely dark reddish brown colour with a slight pull-up. It is the perfect leather for a watch strap. Confusing as it may sound, "crazy horse" leather is not a horse leather, it's actually made from cow hides. It's called "crazy horse" because being supple and very hardwearing it was traditionally used in the manufacture of horse saddles. The strap photographed for this page was stitched with natural thread (which I personally think works best with Redwood), but black and grey stitching also work well. If you want something that will stand out then bright yellow stitching is something to consider. To see the options for thread colour see the stitching colours page. It's one of the thicker leathers I use but very supple for a thick strap. I've chosen it in a lovely almond colour - I hope you like it. • Bramble

    From £100.00
Bramble is a heavy weight, full grain kudu leather with a more classic, semi-gloss appearance than the other kudu leathers I use. It is beautifully soft and pliable from the start and makes a very comfortable watch strap. Kudu live in dense brush or forest in the African savanna, one of the harshest environments on earth, and are prey to preditors such as leopards and hyenas. The kudu skins used to produce this leather exibit all the scars and marks of the animals hard life. Being a full grain leather, any scars on the animals skin will be visable, although as the product is natural no two pieces of leather are the same and so the scarring will be more visable on some straps than others. This means that no two kudu leather straps will look the same, ensuring your strap will be unique. As is the case with all the kudu leather I use, the skins are the result of the seasonal kudu cull mandated by the South African government. The Bramble strap photographed for this page was stitched with grey thread, but natural, black and light brown threads all look good with this leather. Straps produced with Bramble leather will be approx 4.5mm thick and are priced as follows: £100 with a free spring bar buckle £105 with a sewn in buckle £110 with a screw bar buckle
