I’m just home after making the final trip into town before Christmas. I’ve been to the Post Office to get the last few straps of 2022 on their way to their new owners, and I now plan to put my feet up and relax for the rest of the day.
I’ve always seen the last Post Office run of the year as a major event in the Toshi Straps calendar. It always seems significant to me somehow – drawing a line under twelve months of hard work, and signaling the start of a short recess from making straps. This period over Christmas and the New Year is a time when I have lots of admin jobs to do, but it also gives me an opportunity to reflect on the past year, and to plan for the year to come.
Although I have been described as a workaholic, I do plan on taking a few days off over Christmas this year. Actually, I’ve been given strict instructions to do so! The girls are coming home for the holidays and I’m looking forward to spending some time with them, and there will be plenty of long walks with Dave, our cocker spaniel. It won’t be all rest, however. There are some admin jobs that I will be doing (including the job I dislike the most – the annual stocktake), and I have a trip to a leather supplier I haven’t used before planned (hopefully I’ll find something interesting I can offer early in 2023 – I’ll keep you posted). There are also plenty of straps that have been ordered, which need to be built over the holidays so they can be posted out when everything opens up again in the New Year. As a result, even if I am taking it a little easier than normal I will be around over the holidays, so if anyone needs to get in touch for any reason please email me (rich@toshi-straps.co.uk).
All there is left for me to do is to wish you all a very “Happy Christmas” from everyone at Toshi Straps HQ, and to thank you all for your continued support. I love what I do, and I’m grateful that so many of you seem to like what I do, too. I never loose sight of the fact that without your custom none of this would be possible. Thank you!
