I’ve been making watch straps for the Apple Watch ever since the launch of the series 1 in 2015, but often owners are unaware that they can fit one of my handmade straps to their watch. This is a shame because in my opinion fitting a leather strap to the Apple Watch really transforms the look of the watch. Most Apple Watches come with a rubber strap out of the box, but put some leather on it and it becomes a lot more grown up and a lot less casual. I borrowed a couple of my friends’ Apple Watches to demonstrate how a quality leather strap will completely change the character of the watch – on the left is a grey series 5 (42mm) Apple Watch fitted with a pair of 42mm black strap adapters and a 24mm wide Tundra leather strap, and on the right is a rose gold series 7 (38mm) Apple Watch fitted with a pair of 38mm rose gold strap adapters and a 20mm wide Dark Chocolate leather strap.
To make things as easy as possible for my customers I’ve now started carrying a small stock of Apple Watch strap adapters in the most common sizes and finishes. These adapters create a traditional lug arrangement for the Apple Watch and make fitting a standard strap simple and easy. I now have them available to fit both sizes of Apple watch (either 38/40mm or 42/44mm sizes) in 4 finishes – silver, black, gold & rose gold. Each pair of adapters will come with a pair of spring bars – you simply attach the strap to the adapters using the spring bars, and then slide the adapters into the groove in the Apple Watch. It really is that simple. The 38mm wide adapters take a 20mm wide watch strap, and the 42mm adapters take a 24mm wide watch strap.
Please note – the adapters should be fitted with the three black ovals facing up, as shown below.

Once you’ve placed your order I’ll get to work, and remember every one of my straps is completely handmade. The leather is first cut to size – the width of the strap is obviously determined by the size of your Apple Watch, but the length of the strap depends on your wrist size (I can make a strap any length you like, but for convenience I have published my suggestions for strap length based on wrist size here). Once cut, the leather is then folded and handstitched in your choice of 20 thread colours, before the final finishing (edges burnished, holes punched in the strap tail, buckle fitted, and the finished strap given a good clean & wax). My straps are always made with passion and traditional craftsmanship by hand in my workshop in Devon, and I’m confident you will love it.
