African Kudu leather with natural stitching on my Panerai 87

I’ve finally managed to get (almost) all of the new leathers up on my website and as a result life is now getting back to some sort of normality at Toshi Straps HQ. The big problem with launching 18 new leathers over the last 2 weeks however is that it’s meant such a huge increase in workload that I haven’t had any time to make something for myself!  Towards the end of last week though I found a couple of hours of “free time” and so I went straight to the African Kudu and made this strap for my Panerai 87. The African Kudu is such a special leather – it’s a bit tricky to work with but it’s worth it – and it was only a matter of time before I made one for myself.

The 87 is a beast of a watch and so I thought with it’s scars and scratches the African Kudu would suit it perfectly. Although it certainly looks the part, what I love most about this leather is that it is so soft and pliable – even though it’s thick enough to work perfectly with the 1000m Luminor Submersible, it is absolutely comfortable from the start. I made it with sewn in and floating keepers and in my preferred length (my wrist is just under 8″ and I’ve found a 135/80 length is perfect for me). I’ve been wearing it this weekend and I love it. This is such a special leather!

If anyone is thinking about ordering a strap and is wondering what strap length would best suit them, my suggestions are shown on the strap width & length page. Of course it’s possible for me to make a strap any length you like, but I’ve found over the years that these suggestions work well. If you want to contact me to discuss strap length prior to placing an order feel free to do so.
