My Anonimo Militare is one of the very first dive watches I ever bought, and it still gets more wrist time than most of my other watches. I’ve been wearing it on a Mushroom leather strap for the last 12 months or so, but I fancied a change and so this morning I made a start on something new for it. It’s almost exactly a year since I made the Mushroom strap, and there’s plenty of life left in it, but I tend to think that you can never have too many straps, and it’s always nice to have something new!

This Militare is one of the first watches Anonimo made (it’s a ref. 2004, with a hand wind Unitas 6497 movement), and is the orange dial variant. This limits choice when it comes to deciding on a strap for it, and I’ve tried many different combinations, but over the years I seem to have settled on dark brown leather as the colour that works best (at least in my opinion) with the dial colour. The choice of leather was easy – since I launched it last summer, Aegir has become my absolute favourite dark brown leather, so it just had to be that. I realise that I could have jazzed it up a bit with orange stitching, but for me an under-stated strap works best with a bright dial colour, so I went with dark brown thread.

The main issue with the Militare when making a strap for it is that the crown sits at 6 o’clock, and so there needs to be a corresponding notch in the strap to facilitate the crown. I’ve been making straps for Militares for years now, but still it takes a steady hand.

So here it is. I think it works pretty well, and it’s very comfortable. I hope you like it.

If anyone is looking for a decent watch strap for their Anonimo Militare you have come to the right place. Take a look through the leathers I have available (you can see them all via the straps pages) – I’m sure there will be something there that is of interest regardless of the dial colour of your watch. I don’t charge any extra for notching the strap to fit the Militare, so the prices shown on my website are the prices you will pay. It takes a 22mm wide strap, but remember to mention when you order that the strap is for a Militare so I know to cut it to fit.
