Whilst it’s true that I make every one of my straps, it’s not strictly true that I’m here alone, so I thought it was time to introduce the real boss at Toshi Straps HQ.
He’s my right-hand man, my most loyal companion, and (if you ask him) the real boss. Meet Dave, my 4-year-old working cocker spaniel.
Dave has been with me since lockdown. He’s been here through thick and thin, supervising every project. He keeps me company on long days in my workshop, ensuring that I always meet my deadlines, and making sure I never miss a snack break (his favorite part of the job).
Dave takes his role very seriously. He greets me every morning with boundless energy, encouraging me to start work, eager to inspect the workshop and ensure everything is in its place. Sometimes he will bring a ball, or one of his toys, but he’s got an impressive eye for detail. If I happen to leave a tool out of line, he’s quick to let me know—usually by sitting exactly where I need to be until I’ve corrected the error.
Let’s not sugarcoat it—Dave has high standards. If he thinks I’m slacking, he’s not afraid to bark his orders. And while I might be the one making the straps, Dave has mastered the art of getting what he wants, whether that be a treat, some attention, or a prime spot in the sunniest corner of the room. But no matter how demanding he can be, Dave brings endless joy and laughter to my days. His enthusiasm is contagious, and his antics are often the highlight of my workday.
In a world of deadlines and projects, Dave reminds me to pause, smile, and appreciate the little things. Whether he’s keeping my feet warm under the desk or “helping” by chewing on a scrap of leather, he’s an integral part of what makes this workshop so special. So, if you hear the occasional bark in the background, or see a stray paw print on a package, you’ll know it’s just Dave, making sure everything meets his high standards.
