Horween Nut Brown strap with royal blue stitching, made for my Panerai 87

Horween Nut Brown was launched last month along with 7 other new leathers, and as soon as I could find some time I just had to get to work on a strap from it for myself – and specifically for my “87”. I really couldn’t resist making a strap from this leather and now it’s finished I wanted to share some photos with you. Horween Nut Brown is thick and pliable, and has such a depth of colour that I just knew it would work beautifully with royal blue thread. The perfect strap for my old Panerai 87.

The Panerai 87 is one of those “old school” Panerai made with a chunky Bettarini Luminor steel case. Panerai produced just 3000 of these watches between 2001-2005. Mine is an “E” series watch, which dates it from 2002, with the older style dial (the later 87 dials were a slightly darker blue and have white gold surrounds to the lume plots instead of the blue surrounds the early dials have). It’s without a doubt a big, heavy watch and so needs a substantial strap. Horween Nut Brown suits it perfectly – it’s thick but beautifully soft and pliable, and as these photos hopefully show it has bags of character.

So if anyone is looking for a thick, soft watch strap in dark brown, I can highly recommend Horween Nut Brown. The feedback I’ve had from the first customers to order one for themselves has been hugely positive, and it’s high on my personal favourites list. I think it looks great with royal blue stitching for my Panerai 87 – I hope you agree.
