Phoenix is a beautiful Italian made vegetable tanned leather in a bright red colour. It’s heavily oiled during the re-tan to produce an antiqued finish, with a slight pull up. It’s soft and supple, and being a full grain leather it will develop a rich patina with wear.
Now, there’s no escaping the elephant in the room here – it’s red! Black or brown leathers may be the most common strap colours for a Panerai, but in my opinion everyone should have a couple of bright and colourful straps in their strap collection, too. Nothing changes up the look of a Panerai more than a colourful strap, and Phoenix is a beauty. I made this strap for my 233 a few years ago and it’s been one of the most regular straps I wear this watch on, and it always gets commented on.
