Pastel is a leather produced for French fashion house Hermès. It is what they refer to as a “Clemence” leather (named after the daughter of the designer who introduced it into Hermès’ collections in 1992) and is produced from the hide of a baby bull (calf).

Hermès Clemence leather is known for its durability, large grain, and soft, heavy, and supple texture. I’ve been lucky enough to acquire a small amount of this famous leather in a fabulous soft pink colour. It’s a thick leather, but very soft and pliable. I leave the edges natural with this one as I’ve found it looks so much better this way.

This is a leather that is not readily available (and I probably won’t be able to get any more once it’s gone) so I’m listing it as a “limited edition”. As a result, each Pastel strap will come with a signed letter from me stating the date your strap was made and giving it a production number.

The strap shown is made with natural stitching. The only other thread colour I would personally consider is white, but to see the options for thread colour see the stitching colours page.

Straps produced with Pastel leather will be approx 5mm thick and are priced as follows:

£120 with a free spring bar buckle
£125 with a sewn in buckle
£130 with a screw bar buckle
